Frequently Asked Questions

Maya Congee Cafe

Maya Congee Cafe is a Brooklyn rice-focused restaurant founded around the belief that rice connects cultures, generations, and everyday rituals. We serve congee, fermented foods, and small plates inspired by Chinese traditions from our Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill locations.

What kind of food does Maya serve?

Maya is a Brooklyn congee cafe and House of Rice focused on comforting rice traditions, fermented foods, and small plates inspired by Chinese cooking.

Our menu centers around congee (a nourishing rice porridge served with seasonal toppings) alongside fermented vegetables, preserved ingredients, and dishes designed for sharing.

What is congee?

Congee is a traditional rice dish enjoyed throughout Asia. Rice is slowly simmered with water or broth until it becomes soft, creamy, and comforting.

At Maya, we treat congee as both a familiar comfort food and a canvas for flavors, textures, and seasonal ingredients.

Do you take reservations?

Yes. Reservations are available through Resy.
